Hello there! Here's my 2nd refashion inspired for Valentine's Day!
I used the bottom part of the mini dress from the previous refashion to make this cute and flirty skirt.
So first, I cut the dress in half.
Then, I made the waistband as follows:
1. Length: Your waist measurement + 1" seam allowance
Width: How wide you want your waistband to be
Same with the interfacing. (P.S. They're folded in this picture)
(Unfolded)
I ironed down the interfacing to the waistband. (The rough side of the interfacing facing the wrong side of the fabric.)
Since the skirt was too wide, I used a gathering stitch to make it smaller to fit my waistband.
Next I sewed on the waistband as shown.
Next, zipper!
I sewed on a lining to this skirt because it was a little bit sheer, but I made a mistake along the way LOL oops! I sewed on the lining AFTER the zipper and I was supposed to sew it BEFORE. So you can follow the steps in the pictures below but just remember to sew the lining before the zipper.
Afterwards I just sewed on a piece of gathered lace around the skirt lining & made this little lace flower to add to the side of the skirt.
TA-DA!
